Banks

Lloyds Bank

70 School Rd, Reading RG31 5AW, UK – 0345 300 0000

Very friendly local branch with more time to chat and to help you than the bigger town centre branches.

NatWest Bank

74 School Rd, Reading RG31 5ST, UK – 0345 788 8444

Generally very good, but very quick to push their products given the chance !

I have never had problems at this bank branch (Tilehurst). Staff are very helpful. If it is very busy just come at a better time when either queue is shorter or more staff at counters

Barclays Bank

1 The Triangle, Reading RG30 4RW, UK – 0345 734 5345

Usually very good service if busy

Hello to anyone reading this! I should start by saying how simple and easy my visits have been to the surgery. The first appointment was at short notice, no problem! The dentist, great guy!! My following appointments, no complications, still very accommodating and.....easy! A nice location, tidy and well kept!!!! All in all, a big thumbs up. Thanks gentle dental, you should be proud!

Woodborough House Dental Practice

21 Reading Rd, Pangbourne, Reading RG8 7LR, UK – 0118 984 3108

The best dentist ever, used Sarah for 20 years now and I've followed her as she's moved out of London further and further but she is definitely worth the time to get to her. You will not be disappointed by her quality of work or service.

always first class service, Nav has looked after me for many years and is a superb dentist, highly recommend.

Centre for Dentistry

Theale Medical Centre

Englefield Rd, Theale, Reading RG7 5AS, UK – 0118 930 3081

Great surgery. Every one is so helpful. Nothing is too much bother

What a great practice! I can’t believe the negative comments. They try really hard and while not perfect, given the work they do, im not sure there’s any such thing as perfect! Great doctors and staff that care and really give a damn. I’m not sure I can think of many career choices where an individual could be so easily criticised. What thankless days they must have at times, especially given that their “customers”, by the very nature are not on best of form! I for one am very greatful for all their efforts, I may not be able to always get a same day appointment for a non essential condition, but when my family or I have needed real help, they’ve bent over backwards to assist! Thank you to the whole team!

Dr A Mount - Grovelands Medical Centre

Always busy

Grovelands Medical Centre

701 Oxford Rd, Reading RG30 1HG, UK – 0118 958 2525

I phoned up to make an appointment at 9am. The lady who answered the phone was very helpful and was able to arrange an appointment at 11.30am the same day. I arrived logged myself in on the screen in the entrance sat down and within 5 minutes my name was called out. The doctor was very pleasant and reassuring. Could not have asked for anything more.

My grateful thanks to Nurse Aideen for her care, attention and discretion when my husband and I visited today, 15th May 2017. Also thanks to the Receptionist who I talked with and to Dr. Escamilla for his time and patience and for explaining symptoms, causes and medications so clearly. Great service. Thank you all.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Find Local Churches & Places of Worship

St. Matthew's Church, Southcote, Reading

205 Southcote Ln, Reading RG30 3AX, UK – 0118 954 7964

St Matthews is thriving - far from a dying church, with the full spread of ages including loads of kids. In the 3 years I've been there, quite a few people have joined who are completely new to church. They stay after finding, often to their total surprise, that Jesus is alive. The propaganda is that God is a figment of people's imagination and the Christianity is on its way out. Not here it isn't.

Good church with good leadership team.

English Martyrs Catholic Church

64 Liebenrood Rd, Reading RG30 2EB, UK – 0118 957 2149

The Parish has a great community. The Priests are very approachable. Music and singing at most Masses which I like. There are 3 Masses on Sunday as well as the vigil Mass which is quite unusual in this area. Very child orientated. There are Childrens masses which involve them in the readings and the choir.

Warm and welcoming congregations. Led by a capable priest.

Salvation Army Church

522 Oxford Rd, Reading RG30 1EG, UK – 0118 957 5394

Lovely place to go Sundays 11am-12 .you will feel uplifted have a sing songs then a tea and biscuits after . Great congregation

Find Recycling Centres

Reading Metal Recycling

Green Ln, Reading RG30 3XN, UK – 0118 950 0470

This was my first experience of metal recycling. The staff were very helpful and I got what seemed to be a very good price for the metal I took there. Money was transferred immediately. Would definitely go again if I have the need to. Take photo ID. It's needed for the transaction to happen.

Helpful staff told me my metal was worth more than I thought due to the type of metal. I thought it was steel and it turned out to be copper. Very trustworthy and the money was in my account straight away. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

John Mould (Reading)

10 Pingewood Rd N, Reading RG30 3XL, UK – 0118 957 5555

Kennet Weir Business Park, Arrowhead Rd, Theale RG7 4AE, UK – 0118 932 3444

Excellent service from the people in the office to the drivers. Highly recommend

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Calcot

805 Restaurants

2, Cholsey House, Moulsford Mews, Reading RG30 1AP, UK – 0118 956 1974

I went here with my family for an Easter Sunday Lunch and it was lovely. A huge upgrade & much better service compared to the Abuja & Old Kent road branches. The location is good and parking is free on Sundays. Staff here are very friendly and informative, (unlike the other branches I’ve been to). My family and I loved the decor and ambience. Food was presented excellently and tasted great. I had the Monika Tilapia and it was delicious. Superb first time at 805 in Reading. I just hope that the service won’t drop as the restaurant gets busier. Will be making another visit very soon

Lovely people, friendly, welcoming, a ttentive. Food stunning, hot, hot, hot starter, filling main. Would visit again. Note: locals seem to love it.. Always a good indicator.

The Mansion House Harvester

Prospect Park, Liebenrood Rd, Reading RG30 2ND, UK – 0118 950 5125

After having a very bad experience at the Cunning Man Reading, we have had a completely different experience at the Mansion House Reading. The food was not over priced it was outstanding cooked to perfection and well presented. The service by waiting staff was excellent. The total experience of our family meal was 100%.. DEFIANTLY RECOMMEND. Thank you Mansion House. Kind regards Lorraine Padbury.

We visited Saturday lunchtime and were seated very quickly. Waitress was friendly, and took order for food and drink efficiently. Chicken was served undercooked, but quick word with waitress and she provided fresh plates. Food was fine, as one can expect from a Harvester. Would consider eating there again.
